Japanese power company Chubu Electric Power announced Monday it will shut the Hamaoka nuclear power plant (central Romania), following a request by the Government in Tokyo, according to AFP. The Japanese Government has asked the plant closed for security reasons the people staying in the area, a region of intense seismic activity.
"We decided to close units 3, 4 and 5 of the plant, " said company president, adding that he believed the Government's request "very serious", despite the fact that Japanese nuclear power plant complies with the earthquakes.
Reactors 1 and 2 of the plant at Hamaoka are already closed.
Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan are cautioned that 87% chance that an earthquake measuring over 8 degrees to hit the region over the next 30 years Hamaoka, according to seismology.
