Two dresses that had belonged to Princess Diana were sold Sunday at an auction in Beverly Hills, Calif., for 276,000 dollars, said Julien's auction house, according to AFP. The two dresses bearing the signature of Catherine Walker, one of Diana's favorites, from his marriage with Prince Charles in 1981 until the death of Princess in 1997.
The first of dresses, black and Indian-inspired motifs, created in 1992 for the princely couple's official visit to British India, was awarded 144 thousand dollars, according to the auction before its value was estimated at 40-60 thousand dollars.
The second, a pale blue dress of muslin, also estimated at 40-60 thousand dollars, was sold for 132,000 dollars. Princess Diana wore this dress three times, including at Cannes in 1987.
In the same auction were sold several items that belonged to the collection of Hollywood stars such as Marlene Dietrich, Gloria Swanson and Marilyn Monroe.
